A WELCOME donation has boosted the Fernhurst Pavilion 2022 appeal to raise £1million for a state-of-the-art sports centre.
Action needed to be taken, because the current pavilion can’t cope with the increase in numbers due to Fernhurst’s improved playing facilities.
All the village the sports clubs are committed to the project and the trustees hope 2018 will be a bumper year for fundraising if the target of 2022 is to be hit.
Thanks to the Fernhurst Sports 100 Club monthly draw, which people can enter for £10, club representative Jon Meier handed over another big cheque to trustee John Mitchell.
To date, £130,000 has been pledged and an action-packed fundraising programme includes a ‘Legends’ cricket match, a black tie ball and a major running event.
Trustee Bill Gourlay said: “We want the whole village and the many sports club members from far and wide to genuinely feel that they are personally engaged in this exercise.
“In order to thank people we are setting out rewards. They are designed to allow everyone to be recognised for their hard work and generosity, covering a very broad range of donation levels and allowing them to take pride in the new building once it is in place.”
The full rewards grid can be found at www.pavilion2022.org.uk.
A donation of £500 will be recognised with an engraved brick in the entry wall/path and free 12 months membership of one of the clubs, and there are various different bricks and discounts as the donation level rises.
For £100,000, the donor will get a major room named after them and life membership of the clubs.
