THEY complained about their "hand-me-down" Christmas lights and being excluded from the Olympic torch relay – but Lavant Street traders could soon have a reason to celebrate according to the organisers of a mouth-watering event in Petersfield.

Organisers of the Petersfield Festival of Food and Drink have apologised to Lavant Street traders for excluding the road from next month's event.

Around 90 stalls offering a range of delicious products will cram into the High Street, The Square and parts of Chapel Street and Swan Street on June 23 and June 24.

Bill Oversby, of promoters SO Marketing, said the weekend event could generate as much as £1m for the town in knock-on trade over the following weeks.
