ALL Saints Church in Tilford, will be filled with colour and fragrance for a flower festival on the weekend of June 3 and 4 to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
A notable example of Victorian architecture, All Saints Church was consecrated on July 10, 1867, and has served as a spiritual focus of the community ever since. Standing just above the picturesque village green, it has been the home of the renowned Tilford Bach Festival for 65 years.
The flower festival will be open to visitors on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, free of charge – donations invited in aid of church funds. Groups and organisations of all kinds are being asked to contribute floral exhibits to bedeck the church for this very special occasion.
The festival is one of a sequence of events to commemorate All Saints’ 150th anniversary.
Launched with an extremely well attended and highly appreciated organ recital by Stephen Lacey on May 6, these include a village lunch in July and art and photographic exhibitions featuring local talent in September.
The Bishop of Guildford will take part in the Patronal Festival in October, Tilford Bach Society will present a Christmas Oratorio in November and the celebrations conclude with a Christmas Tree Festival in December.
A leaflet with the full programme can be picked up at All Saints and St Thomas-on-The Bourne Churches or email [email protected].
