Around 500 people ran, walked or jogged Phyllis Tuckwell’s Santa & Elf fun runs in December, to raise money for local hospice care.

As well as offering routes for adults, kids and four-legged friends, the runs also included a shorter circuit for toddlers, with the introduction of Santa’s Little Helpers runs at two of the events.

The runs were held in Hindhead on December 1, where the festive fundraisers followed a circular route around the Devil’s Punch Bowl, in Godalming on December 14, starting at The Pepperpot in the town centre, and in Farnborough on December 15, starting and finishing at the Wavell School.

With adults dressed as Santa, and kids and toddlers sporting elf ears, the fun runs were a fabulously festive event. Everyone who took part in any of the runs received a medal.

Fiona Chapman, events fundraiser at the hospice, said the runs were hugely popular, and while they didn’t yet have a final figure, more than £11,000 has been raised so far.

This could fund the Living Well service for a week.
