SUN-KISSED Medstead summer fete attracted a healthy crowd to the village green – and raised more than £2,000 for good causes in the process. A lively procession of becostumed children from Medstead Pre-school paraded around the village on July 12 led by The Two Dandies on their tractor, who guided them safely back to the green where they then performed a beautifully choreographed dance to open the fete before being joined by more children for the judging of the fancy dress competition. The relaxed family feel was part of the determination of the fete committee to return to a traditional grass roots approach, with no theme and the emphasis very much on the timeless pursuit of community fun and games, central to which were the stalls selling everything from cakes and books to craft work and plants.
