Local celebrity and actor Alistair Petrie, who is most known for his recent role as Major Sandy Langbourne in The Night Manager and other BBC productions, graced the grounds to open proceedings at Churt Recreation Ground.
As Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 90th birthday, so did Churt, as it hosted a cookery competition asking participants to bake or bring in cakes that would be fit for a Buckingham Palace garden party – which was sponsored by Hindhead Golf Club.
Alongside this, to fit in with the theme of the event, children took part in a biscuit space-themed decorating competition and crowds were kept entertained during intervals by the Farnham Brass Band throughout the afternoon.
Other events included parades by Churt Nursery School, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, a country dancing performance by St John’s School, a dog show, tug of war and best dress space person competitions, and a silent auction and raffle.
