THE whole school community at St John’s in Churt, came to together as they celebrated the official opening the new school field during their school fair.

Peter Luckham, a governor at the school who previously had worked as caretaker and been involved in the school for the past 25 years, cut the bright yellow ribbon to officially declare the area now open.

He described to the children, parents and staff how the field had been used for many different things over the years then, more recently, hadn’t been used so well.

Now the field proudly sports a large trim trail with seven pieces of equipment, a wooden gazebo and an all-weather path ensuring the area will be used all year round.

Headteacher Ginnie Gregory said: “We are absolutely delighted with our new field. It has opened up fantastic opportunities for even more outside learning, has revolutionised lunchtimes and I feel so happy that this beautiful piece of land is being appreciated by the whole school community.”
