TWO weeks after the heath land fire at Thursley Common, and Surrey Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) are still monitoring the situation. One crew still remains at the site of the biggest fire that SFRS has dealt with in recent years, carrying out mobile inspections in a Land Rover. Meanwhile, Waverley Borough Council (WBC) confirmed that one of the two members of the fire service injured in fighting the blaze was Waverley Borough fire manager, Ian Houseman. "We understand that the injuries were not major and we wish him and his colleague a speedy recovery," said a statement. Surrey Police also confirmed that there were no further updates on the 52-year-old man arrested and subsequently bailed in connection with suspected arson.
