A FIRE ripped into a semi-detached property in Liss Forest on Monday, tearing through one side of the building. The emergency services were alerted to the blaze at Sherwood Close (pictured right) at 1.34pm and the fire was put out two hours later. A fire service spokesman said the homeowners were out of the house at the time the blaze started and no-one was hurt. The blaze in the semi-detached house affected the ground floor, first floor and the roof, while all three floors were smoke damaged. Firefighters from Bordon, Liphook and Winchester were at the scene. Meanwhile, a man died in a fire which gutted a family home in Ropley village, 12 miles north-west of Petersfield. Five other people escaped the blaze in the early hours of Tuesday morning. More than 20 firefighters rushed to Parkstone Road, when neighbours were alerted by a smoke alarm. Three adults and two children had been safely evacuated by the time the firefighters arrived. The 59-year-old victim, who has not yet been named, died in the fire. While the cause is not being treated as suspicious, fire investigation officers have been working on the scene to try to determine the cause of the fire.
