FIREFIGHTERS at Farnham fire station gave up their Saturday to wash cars, raising £1,526 for the families of their four Warwickshire colleagues killed in a warehouse fire recently. Staff rolled up their sleeves and washed non-stop from 10am to 4pm, cleaning two cars at a time. Among the vehicles which came out gleaming were a Mustang, a black taxi and numerous four by fours. Donations were very generous, with one of £60 and another of £45. Peter Guest, senior manager responsible for service delivery, said: "Organising these carwashes and other events are Surrey Fire and Rescue's way of showing our solidarity." The carwash was just one of numerous events, including a fire engine pull, taking place around the county to show support for the Warwickshire victims.
