A?FRENZY of fireworks will light up the night sky above Petersfield this weekend.
The occasion is the 24th annual bonfire and fireworks night run by the Round Table at Bell Hill recreation ground tomorrow.
The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm while the fireworks extravaganza gets under way at 7pm.
David Barley, chief executive of Round Table, said: “This is our 42nd year of organising firework displays across the UK and our Tablers are gearing up to make sure visitors are kept safe and entertained from start to finish.
“Our previous firework displays have helped us raise much-needed funds for local charities and we are keen to continue to show our support.
“This is a key event which is always well supported by the community. Pop down to your local event, wrap up warm, and enjoy an evening with loved ones.”
Last year’s display in Petersfield raised £8,000, with Petersfield Scouts, Autism Hampshire, The Rosemary Foundation, The King’s Arms Youth Project and Focus Ability among the charitable beneficiaries.
Tickets on the night are priced £8 for adults, £5 for children aged 5-15 and £20 for a family (two adults, two children). Under-fives get in free.
* Friends of Sheet Primary School will be holding a firework display and bonfire at the Millennium Field in the village tomorrow.
The display starts at 5.30pm and tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children with proceeds to the village primary school.
* A fireworks spectacular, complete with bonfire, will be held in Buriton tonight.
A procession and the lighting of the bonfire will take place at 6.45pm while the fireworks will fizz into the night sky from 7.30pm.
Tickets are £15 for a family on the gate and £5 for individual tickets, but free for under-twos.
