FIREWORKS lit up the skies across town on Saturday as Farnham Round Table pulled off another spectacular year of celebrations.
The annual charity event saw a record number of people in attendance helping to raise that little bit extra for local causes.
Round Table chairman Lee Bailey said: “It was a great night with a very good turnout. Unfortunately I am not in possession of the final amount of money raised as we’re still awaiting some schools and shops to hand theirs in, but I can say that it was a record night all round.
“I was in attendance from the very beginning and walked alongside the mayor at the head of the torchlightprocession, just behind the marching pipe band. The procession was the longest we’ve ever seen with the stream of people flowing in through the gates even after the fireworks started going off.
“The weather was exactly what it we needed it to be, chilly, clear but dry and as such the crowd were treated to a spectacular bonfire and stunning fireworks display.”
The whole event was organised by the Round Table fireworks committee of Dan Troup, David Northover and Mark Potter but could not have happened without the support of all the schools and organisations that provided volunteers on the night.
“We are looking forward to next year’s event but in the meantime have already started planning the Santa Sleigh to go around Farnham in December” added Mr Bailey.
