SURREY County Council has taken its first step toward implementing MP Jeremy Hunt's pedestrianisation scheme in Farnham town centre.

At last week's meeting of the council's Waverley Local Committee, councillors signed off £7,000 for a feasibility study into scrapping the one-way system in Downing Street.

The move would see mini-roundabouts installed at the entrances to Waggon Yard and Central car parks, allowing traffic from south Farnham to avoid the town centre.
