THIS September, the Rural Life Centre in Tilford will be playing host to the first ever Rural Life Vintage Revival.
Taking place over the weekend of September 2 and 3 from 10am to 5pm each day, the country life museum will see live music from The New Hawleans Jug Band who will be bringing their own exciting brand of ‘jugabilly’ tunes to the centre.
Singer Steve Conway and The Wield Glenn Miller Band will also be performing.
There will be appearances from the Haslemere Thespians and the opportunity to learn some 40s and 50s dance moves from Farnham’s very own Dance Movement.
Try out your lindyhop and jive to the sounds of the 40s, 50s and 60s with DJs Boppin’ Robin and Kat and the Bassman.
There will be vintage makeovers on offer by Paula’s Vintage Parlour and the chance to have your photograph taken in the 1940s Arcon MK5 prefab house by Paul Fitchett Images.
The COINS Cookie Bar Bus will be popping along to supply sweet treats.
Dogs won’t have to miss out, they are welcome on site and there will be a prize sponsored by Barkers of Farnham for the most dapper dog, so if your pooch has a vintage style to match your own, why not bring them along?
The weekend will be kicked off on the evening of Friday, September 1, at 7pm when doors will open for an outdoor, all-weather screening of David Lean’s classic 1945 movie Brief Encounter starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard.
Tickets are priced at £10 and are available from the Rural life Centre on 01252 795571.
Frensham Brewery will be supplying the drinks and there will be plenty of stalls selling everything from vintage clothes to retro homewares alongside displays of hot rods and classic cars to drool over.
Gramofun will be setting the atmosphere by playing 1940s and 50s records on original wind-up gramophones and you’ll be able to try out everything you’ve learnt from The Dance Movement on Saturday, September 2, when an evening tea dance will be taking place with music provided by The Vic Cracknell Swing Band.
Doors open at 7pm and tickets are priced at £12 available from the Rural Life Centre on 01252 795571.
Katie Hill, one of the organisers, said: “We hope that this will be a fun event for all the family and the start of something exciting. We hope to see you there.”
