MEMBERS and guests of the Oakhanger Angling Club enjoyed a charity angling competition recently at Kingsley Pond, raising money for the Kingsley Centre in the village.

Despite the heavy rain, 19 anglers took part and helped raise more than £500 for the Kingsley Centre on Sunday, July 23. The winner was guest angler David Lake, from Haslemere Angling Club.

As well as the fishing competition, a barbecue was held on the bankside, organised by Kevin Ironman, and a large raffle was also held.

Event organiser Keith Wickens said the day had been a great success despite the weather, and he hoped the charity match would become an annual fixture for the club.

Club chairman John Gamble congratulated all the anglers who took part and also thanked the helpers who contributed to the day.

He thanked businesses who had given generously to the raffle.
