A "fantastic new era" has dawned for a Petersfield-based charity as it celebrates its 50th anniversary year.

Elizabeth Fitzroy, whose son Michael had Downs Syndrome, founded the organisation in 1962 with the aim of supporting adults with learning disabilities so that they could live with a greater degree of independence and avoid being place in the institutions that supported such people at the time.
