A CONSULTATION on plans by TAG Farnborough Airport to redirect thousands of low-flying aircraft over Farnham and surrounding villages closed this week amid widespread criticism. MP for South West Surrey Jeremy Hunt, Waverley Borough Council and Farnham Town Council all commented on TAG's plan to introduce a 'controlled' airspace over Farnborough ahead of Monday's deadline. TAG's Airspace Change Proposal seeks to improve efficiency and safety while allowing air traffic to fly higher over densely populated areas and reduce noise. However, the plans have faced almost universal criticism for targeting areas currently unblighted by air traffic – such as north Farnham, Rowledge, Wrecclesham, The Bourne, Crondall, Tilford and Elstead.
