THE town of Alton held its first-ever Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday which was won in fine style by a representative of the Alton Shop Mobility Scheme, due to be launched on April 18.

Running along the cobbles up Cross and Pillory Lane and into the Market Square, the race attracted a lively field of 17, some sporting fancy dress, who were egged on all the way by cheering crowds.
