RESIDENTS, businesses and community groups in Farnham are invited to ‘get prepared’ at a flood and winter risk drop-in on Thursday, January 19, from 4pm to 8pm at the Farnham Maltings.
The Surrey Prepared Partnership drop-in, organised by Waverley Borough Council, Farnham Town Council and Surrey County Council, will offer practical advice and information about how to get prepared and what to do in an emergency – from ditches to flood home insurance and protection, fire safety prevention and how you, your friends, family and neighbours can stay well this winter.
Carole Cockburn, leader of Farnham Town Council, added: “Every year, we hear stories about the devastating effect the weather has had on people’s lives.
“By holding this information event, it is our intention to highlight the risks and issues in Farnham.
“We also plan to share practical advice about what individuals can do to reduce their risk and how they may be able to help more vulnerable friends or neighbours to come out unscathed from a weather emergency.”
