ALTON Tennis Club has started the year with new LED floodlights, thanks to a generous £18,000 grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust.
A tennis club spokesman said: “Not only are the lights more effective, they are also considerably cheaper to run and much better for the environment.”
The Veolia Environmental Trust aims to increase community participation, so the club has decided to use some of the cost savings to support this aim.
Free ‘try tennis’ courses will run throughout the year, with the first course on Saturday, February 24.
