A PETERSFIELD club which has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity over the the last 40 years is to close.
The Petersfield Flower Arrangement Society presented £800 to its charity of the year, The Rosemary Foundation, at the Herne Farm Leisure Centre on Tuesday – its last fundraising contribution.
On hand to accept the welcome donation from society chairman Katherine Wigmore was Julie Cotsell of The Rosemary Foundation.
The money was raised from proceeds of an open day at the Petersfield Festival Hall last October and a coffee morning earlier this year.
But the cheque presentation marked the last but one event in the calendar of the society following its annual meeting.
"We decided to close because of the difficulty in forming a committee. It is very sad,' said programme secretary Joan Horton.
