A NOBLE Scotsman came flying through Haslemere on Sunday.
Making two stops at Haslemere station, en route from London to Southampton in the morning and from Portsmouth to London in the evening, the Flying Scotsman locomotive proved it still has the power to draw a crowd.
The train, which was built in 1923 by London and North Eastern Railways (LNER), was the first train in the world to make a non-stop run, travelling from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh.
The train fell into disrepair during the 1980s but after being purchased by a private owner in 1996, a painstaking restoration project has brought the engine back to its former glory.
The next chance to see The Flying Scotsman at Haslemere station will come on September 21, when the train will follow the same two routes.
More information about the route is available by calling British Pullman on 0207 8055100.
