A CLAMPDOWN on flyposting in Alton town centre could result in hefty fines.

Organisations and individuals seeking to advertise events by flyposting should be aware that flyposting is illegal under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and could result in a punishing financial penalty.

Concerned over the escalation of such adverts, Alton Town Council has taken the decision to use the act to tighten up on flyposting.
