A DUO who will be supporting former Ultravox star Midge Ure on tour next year are appearing at Grayshott Folk Club on October 30.

Pop/folk band India Electric Company previously toured the world with Midge in 2015 after releasing their debut album The Girl I Left Behind Me.

After three EPs recorded using traditional instruments in a contemporary manner, Devon-born Cole Stacey and Joseph O’Keefe returned with their second full album called The Gap in May 2020.

Their music is inspired by Irish traditional and Bembe rhythms, with lyrics often drawn from literature – notably the writings of Sarojini Naidu, a leading figure in India’s struggle for independence.

Des O’Byrne, of Grayshott Folk Club, said: "India Electric Company use traditional instruments in contemporary styles to explore diverse themes from eastern Europe, Irish traditions and modern urban alienation."

The concert is at Grayshott Village Hall in Headley Road, Grayshott, at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £16.
