THE Woolmer Forest Heritage Society joined forces with representatives from Gilbert White’s House in Selborne, the Deadwater Valley Trust and the Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company to lead a guided walk around Bordon’s Hogmoor Inclosure on Sunday.

The walk, which took visitors along the Gilbert White Trail, was one of several activities in the area held as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme.

About 25 people joined Bill and Chris Wain (pictured seventh and eighth from right), from the Heritage Society; Amanda Pagett (ninth right) and “Gilbert White” Ronnie Davidson-Houston (sixth right), from the historical Selborne house and museum, and the Regeneration Company’s Naomi Metcalfe (fifth right). All wore period costumes.

As the walkers reached waymarkers along the trail, Mr Wain read notes from White’s The Natural History of Selborne for September 8 and 11, for 1760 to 1790.
