WAVERLEY leader Julia Potts has described it as “extremely disappointing” a decision by the planning inspectorate to reopen an appeal against the refusal of planning permission for more than 100 homes in Folly Hill.
More than 560 people objected to Bewley Homes’s plans for 102 homes on fields south of Upper Old Park Lane in 2016, and a public inquiry was held last autumn to determine Bewley’s appeal.
However, the planning inspector’s decision has been delayed following the adoption of Waverley’s Local Plan and Farnham’s Neighbourhood Plan - both of which exclude the site - and a further public inquiry will be held this June (date tbc) to examine the “status of the development plan”.
Miss Potts, who is also the ward councillor for the proposed housing site, added: “Waverley will of course continue to vigorously defend its position and the site.”
