STAFF, pupils, parents and governors at Hale School said a fond farewell to headteacher June Trantom at the end of the summer term. Mrs Trantom has spent the past 14 years at the primary school, initially as deputy head and latterly headteacher, steering the school through a difficult period of politicisation. As well as increasing the school's community involvement and expanding its garden for outdoor learning, she was a driving force behind the Hale Sure Start Children's Centre, opened in 2010. Various festivities took place at the end of the school term for all to show their thanks and appreciation to the departing headteacher. These included a school assembly, children's tea party and a school picnic. Mrs Trantom was also given various gifts, including a banner decorated with fingerprints and signatures by the whole school community, as a memento.
