HE could almost be called “the train man of Bordon” as engines and railways have played a big part in his life.

And it was also his love of steam that led to Ron Neal meeting his wife Chrissie.

In a Brief Encounter moment (1945 film starring Celia Johnson, Trevor Howard and Stanley Holloway), the couple met when they were volunteers on the Watercress Mid-Hants Railway in the early 1980s.

The encounter led to marriage and a family, plus a shared love of steam trains and classic cars and scooters.

Ron now runs a Meet and Natter monthly session at the Bordon and Oakhanger Sports Club in Bordon for lovers of classic cars - he owns a 1972 MGB GT - and classic scooters and bikes.
