TERRY Brown and Ian McDonald, managers of Aldershot Town and Farnborough Town respectively, are to go head-to-head in Logan's Run, a popular local 10km event for serious and fun athletes alike.

The race takes place in aid of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Farnham on Sunday, April 27 at the Rushmoor Arena.

The event starts at 12 noon and a field of 250 runners is anticipated, including the managers of the rival Hampshire clubs.

It is a great initiative between the clubs to support a popular event that raises important funds for the hospice. Aldershot and Farnborough are two of the key towns within its catchment area.

There will be plenty of sideshows on the day, with organisers aiming to promote a family occasion for all.

Fans of both football clubs are asked to support their respective managers on the Logan's route.

Terry Brown has managed Aldershot since March, 2002 and has enhanced the vital community relationships the club encourages with his excellent communication skills.

His counterpart at Cherrywood Road, Ian McDonald, has legendary status at Aldershot too, being a former player and manager of the Football League club. He has only recently taken over at Conference side Farnborough, who played Arsenal in this season's FA Cup, but has already brought back the "feel good" factor to the club.

The race is held in memory of Ian Logan, a popular athlete from the AFD club, who died aged 41 in 1997. Last year, several of Ian's relatives from Newcastle ran in the event.

In addition to the 10km event, there is a 3000m Family Fun Run.

Anyone wishing to enter either race and join the two bosses should contact Chris Whittingham at Rushmoor Borough Council on 01252 398740 or by e-mail on [email protected]">[email protected] for an application and sponsorship form.
