THE controversial footbridge linking the Tesco supermarket in Wey Hill and the Herons Leisure Centre in Kings Road will not be built this year - it has not even been included in Waverley Borough Council's budget for 2000/2001.
A statement from Waverley read out at a meeting of Haslemere Town Council last week said the "current restraints on the budget meant that the project did not currently exist in the capital programme for the forthcoming year".
A full version of this story can be found in the Haslemere Herald of February 4.
