A QUIZ held at Bordon’s Forest Community Centre attracted 95 people who made up 15 teams for a highly contested competition.
The quiz was arranged to generate interest in the facilities available at the community centre and to raise funds for other community activities.
It was organised and run by Ann and Dawn Raisan, who set and marked eight rounds of questions on topics like music, geography and famous sayings.
During the interval contestants enjoyed a choice of two soups and three desserts.
As a result of the raffle, organised by Helen Blake, a trustee of the centre, more than 20 prizes were given out, all of which had been donated by supporters.
Forest Community Centre trustee chairman Lawrence Tristram said: “This was a really enjoyable evening, made possible by the efforts of a band of 12 volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and punctual event.
“Special thanks must go to trustees Eileen Grinter and Chris Perry for their efforts in producing delicious and plentiful food.
“Although it was not our primary objective, we are delighted to have made more than £500 during the evening and this will be used to support other community activities.
“My thanks go to all our volunteers, sponsors and competitors and we will definitely hold another quiz in the autumn and hope that this success will generate even greater support.”
Bucks fizz for the winning team was donated by Tesco and the Forest Community Centre, which entered two teams of staff and volunteers which came second and third.
