SURREY police are growing increasingly concerned for the safety and well-being of a former Grayshott man who has been missing for a week.
Alistair Kingston is believed to have left the family home in Hurtmore Road, Shackleford, near Guildford at 12-20 pm last Wednesday (May 4). It appears that he also took his silver Ridgeback cyclone hybrid mountain bike with him.
Mr Kingston, 60, is married with four daughters. West Surrey Police has been searching extensively in the local area since Alistair went missing and his family have joined the desperate search circulating posters in the hope someone will have information. A couple of reported sightings from the public have so far drawn a blank.
One of the detectives involved in the investigation, Dc Barry Jutsum, said: "All efforts so far have failed to trace Alistair and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety and welfare. His disappearance is completely out of character and his family are extremely distressed by what has happened. "We are issuing a further appeal to the public if the silver Ridgeback mountain bike is found abandoned anywhere, or if there are any sightings of Alistair to let us know immediately."
Dc Jutsum said that there was the possibility Mr Kingston may return to Grayshott of which he is a former resident.
"At one stage, the Kingston family lived in Grayshott and it may be that Alistair has returned to this area," he said.
"If anyone has seen him in the Sussex/Hants border areas with Surrey we would like to hear from them.
"Perhaps anyone who runs a B&B or small guesthouse has noticed that a man staying with them has been confined to his room and seems very quiet. If so, they are urged to get in touch.
"We are hoping that through this appeal information will come forward which will lead us to successfully finding Alistair."
At the time he went missing, Alistair was wearing brown cord trousers and a blue sweatshirt with a pink shirt underneath. He also had a dark navy heavyweight coat with him.
He is described as white, 5' 8" tall, medium build, with white receding hair, blue eyes and a ruddy complexion.
Anyone who has any information or believes they may have seen Alistair, are asked to contact Dc Barry Jutsum immediately on 0845 125 2222.
