A FORMER monk, now living in Liss, has been found guilty of abusing boys in his care during the l960s.
Michael Murphy, aged 69, and formerly known as Brother Benedict, was convicted of 10 charges of physical abuse at St NinianÕs List D school in Stirlingshire.
Murphy, whose address was given as Rogate Road, Hill Brow, Liss, was on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh with the schoolÕs former woodwork teacher, 83-year-old Charles McKenna, and an ex-nightwatchman, James McKinstrey.
McKenna, of Stirling was convicted of three counts of sexual abuse in the late l970s and early l980s.
And 70-year-old Mc-Kinstrey, of Port of Menteith, Stirling, was found guilty of four sex-abuse charges between the late l960s and early l980s.
During the trial, a man whose arm was allegedly broken by former monk Michael Murphy, when he was a pupil in his care, told the court how the cleric had spun him round Òlike a rag dollÓ.
He said he was 10 or 11 years old when Michael Murphy, then known as Brother Benedict, ÒchargedÓ him after he made a comment about his footwear.
Murphy was also accused of giving electric shocks and forcing three boys to eat their own vomit during the court case.
The judge, Lord Carloway, called for background reports on all three men and deferred sentence until July 14.
