JUNE’S organ recital at St Andrew’s Parish Church, Farnham. welcomes Gerald Marlow who was at one time the organist and choirmaster at the church.
The recital on Tuesday, June 14, will last about 35 minutes, starting at 1.10pm.
Gerald was born in Farnham and attended St Peter’s and Weydon schools. Thomas Stroud introduced him to the organ at St Peter’s Church in Wreccclesham and he later had lessons with Garrett O’Brien and John Foss both at St Thomas-on-the Bourne.
Gerald regards himself as an amateur musician and has been organist and choirmaster to several local churches and was at St Lawrence in Alton for 10 years and St Mary’s Liss for nine.
The monthly concerts are free with refreshments available or take your own lunch. The retiring collection supports future recitals to which all are welcome.
A special organ recital of French classical music is planned for Bastille Day on Thursday, July 14, at 7.30pm with organist Stephen Lacey.
Taking place at St Andrew’s Church the recital is free of charge. French cheese and wine will be served during the interval. A retiring collection will be held.
