WHITEHILL Town Council has once again shown disapproval over amended plans for five former police homes to replaced by 25 houses and flats.
With homes ranging from one bedroom flats to four bedroom houses, councillors said they disagreed with this ratio of big houses next to small as they were at Ôthe other end of the spectrumÕ from one another.
Applicants Sentinel Housing Group have previous proposals up for appeal, due to be heard early in the new year, but these new plans were made in an attempt to appease town councillors and residents who have so far rejected them.
If these plans go through the applicants will withdraw their appeal.
However in a meeting of the planning and amenities committee this week, councillor Neil Ockenden slammed the ideas and gave the message to the planners to Ògo away and think againÓ.
Though councillors supported the four one bedroom flats they disagreed with the ratio of the other buildings. They also felt there was poor access on the narrow Sutton Road and that there should be a reduction in the density of the housing.
Mr Ockenden said he was Ònot enamoured with the housing styleÓ.
The breakdown of the 25 units is comprised of four three bedroom houses and two four bedroom houses off Petersfield Road and, off Sutton Road; 11 two bedroom houses, four three bedroom houses and four one bedroom flats, with 34 car parking spaces available overall.
East Hampshire District Council case officer for the proposals Chris Murray said one of the things that may change the mind of residents is the impact of a tree screen parallel to Petersfield Road which is different.
The local reaction in the case is ÒcriticalÓ said Mr Murray, especially in Sutton Road. ÒIn terms of concerns expressed previously, whether these changes will be enough to satisfy them remains to be seen.Ó
