FORTY firefighters battled a massive blaze at a property on Hill House Hill, off Headley Road, Liphook, on Sunday.

The fire broke out at 6.30pm, after a bonfire was left unattended, which spread to pallets and destroyed a third of a nearby commercial building.

The building houses computers and computer equipment and, due to its size, six fire engines, a water carrier and two tactical support units were called to the scene to deal with the blaze.

No-one was hurt or injured and police established there were no suspicious circumstances involved in the start of the blaze.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue are advising residents never to leave any barbecues or bonfires unattended.

Meanwhile, a woman had to be taken to hospital after colliding with a tree near The Black Fox pub on Portsmouth Road, Liphook.

She was trapped in her car and had to be freed by firefighters from Haslemere, Petersfield and Chichester using hydraulic rescue equipment.

The accident happened at 8.20am last Thursday. The road was closed for an hour while the rescue was carried out.
