ENFORCEMENT will be the main topic for discussion at Alton’s Community Forum tomorrow, which takes place at Alton Community Centre at 6.30pm.

From parking to fly-tipping, East Hampshire’s enforcement teams are working hard keeping the district clean and orderly. But how does enforcement work? What happens to the money raised and what can you do to appeal a fine?

These questions will be answered at the Community Forum, run by East Hampshire District Council.

Residents will have the chance to hear what they have to say and ask questions of their own in a ‘Question Time’ format.

Graham Hill, Community Forum chairman, said: “Fly-tipping damages the environment and represents a public health risk. But more than that, fly-tipping is a crime and at EHDC we take our duty to protect the district’s beautiful countryside very seriously.

“We will not hesitate to bring prosecutions against fly-tippers if possible.

“Parking is another key element of enforcement which may not be so popular but is just as important. Enforcement is an important part of that work but it’s not just about issuing tickets. I would urge residents to come along to the forum and find out about these vital functions.”
