CHRISTMAS shoppers will be able to park free of charge in Waverley Borough Council car parks on December 14 and 21.
The move was announced at a meeting of the council's executive this week.
Last year, the council performed a U-turn on the issue following public and political pressure to allow free parking.
It had scrapped its previous policy between 1992 and and 2000 in which parking had been free for two Saturdays in December in order to meet budget cutbacks.
The car parks will be free on the above dates between noon and 6pm.
