Violinist Sophie Langdon is holding another series of free summer Sunday concerts in the studio at her Stream Cottage home in Wrecclesham.

They will be held on August 7, 14 and 21, and September 11. Audience members can arrive from 1pm, with chairs, blankets and picnic baskets, to enjoy an open rehearsal by the artists before the concert starts at 4pm.

Sophie said: “This is the third year of running these. It all started in lockdown when I realised I had a unique set-up in my garden with the studio – doors back and front enabled us to play to people having picnics in my garden while enjoying the live music.”

The first concert, on August 7, will see the Ardenti Quartet play the Mendelssohn Quartet in D Major Op 44. There will also be jazz from Mike Hatchard.

On August 14 Mike Hatchard will take centre stage, presenting his Cool Jazz show.

Sophie, whose career includes concerto performances and recordings with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, will be playing on August 21, when she teams up with fellow international artist Peter Fisher to present Two Demon Fiddlers.

The series concludes on September 11 with a harp and flute chamber music festival featuring Hugh Webb, Ian Clarke and the Ardenti Quartet.

Audience members should park in Sandrock Hill Road, Wrecclesham, and walk to Stream Cottage, but it is possible to drop people off at the house if necessary.
