CALLS for housing on the largest brownfield site in Waverley to relieve pressure on Farnham have intensified, after a High Court setback failed to deter Dunsfold Park Ltd from battling on to expand its aviation activities.
Waverley rejected an application for a new 2,600 home eco-village at the former Second World War aerodrome in 2008 and has maintained its opposition to housing at Dunsfold Park ever since on the grounds that the site is unsustainable.
But Waverley is now under pressure to remove this opposition – to prevent houses being built on green fields surrounding Farnham as identified in the council's core strategy and avoid Dunsfold Park becoming a major aircraft service centre as pursued by its owners as a back-up to housing.
