OPPONENTS of the Crest Nicholson Sainsbury's East Street redevelopment have embarked on a new phase of objections.

The fresh opportunity has been presented by submission of an application for a new planning consent, in order to extend the time allowed to implement the troubled scheme.

Objections are also being fired off to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, following the late realisation that the public has a say in the process of compulsory purchase of the land for the project.

The deadline for representations is June 29.
