OBJECTORS who are opposed to competitive polo being played on Barfold Farm Estate are saddling up for a new fight.
A grand scheme to turn 40 acres of the 200-acre site – near The Lythe Hill Hotel – into a new international private polo ground was thrown out by Waverley planners, in August.
More than 200 objections were triggered by five applications submitted by multi-millionaire landowner Adrian Kirby through the sponsorship organisation Cortium Sports he founded.
Mr Kirby wanted consent to play up to 20 competitive matches a year, providing stabling for 60 horses and converting a wartime signals station into a clubhouse.
Planning consent has already been granted on appeal for practice polo matches to be played, and the field will be ready for use next year.
