FRIDAY the 13th is considered unlucky for some, but MP Ranil Jayawardena is not one of those people.

On January 13 the north east Hampshire MP welcomed his second daughter to the world, Violet, who was born a healthy 8lbs at North Hampshire Hospital.

And it was almost two years previously Ranil and his wife, Alison, welcomed their first daughter, Daisy, into the world - on Friday 13.

Mr Jayawardena said he was “so proud” of his wife, with both mother and daughter doing well, and 23-month old sister Daisy, extremely intrigued by her little sister.

The MP added: “I should like to thank all the fantastic NHS staff who have helped us as a family during the past couple of weeks, including the great team of midwives at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.”
