A RADICAL plan to run a Petersfield venue as a social enterprise has angered councillors and members of the town's cultural scene. Joanna Bird and Melanie Cox got an ear-bashing from councillors last Thursday for suggesting that Petersfield has a lack of vibrancy and culture. The criticism came after the pair from South Downs College outlined their ambitious plans to change the way that the Festival Hall is run. There was standing-room only as actors, users and supporters of the hall packed into the council chamber to hear their presentation. The pair believe the venue is underused and could be turned into a cultural hub with a daily programme of movies, events and exhibitions. For full story, see this week's Petersfield Herald.
