THE first major phase of the Mid-Hants Railway's latest Heritage Lottery Fund project has been completed and will be opened on Wednesday, February 17, by songwriter, record producer and railway enthusiast Pete Waterman.

The railway announced the award of the grant of £550,000 at the end of September 2008, towards a project expected to cost over £1.1m.
