AROUND 300 Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Guides and leaders camped at Bentley Copses’ Frost Camp which was held last weekend at Bentley Copse Activity Centre.

Scouts from 4th Farnham, 7th Farnham and the Farnham Explorers joined groups from Guildford West, Godalming, Knaphill, Farnham, Woking, Reigate, Farnborough, Bookham, Caterham, Laleham, Basingstoke, Leatherhead and Burgess Hill.

They enjoyed a weekend of activities which included quad biking, Jacob’s ladder, crate stacking, zip wire, archery, air rifle shooting, climbing and abseiling, survival skills and laser tag - to name a few. In the evening there was a campfire and disco.

Bentley Copse’s Frost Camp has seen many different weather conditions and this year was no exception. Starting with a white welcome on the Friday, below freezing temperatures saw a hard frost start on the Saturday morning opening up to a glorious sunny day, where Sunday saw a bit of rain. None of this spoilt the weekend.

Jacob, aged 11, from Farnham District said” “I liked quad biking as I could race my friends.”

Poppy, aged 16, and also from Farnham District, added: “I enjoyed the disco tent as it was a new experience.”

Carl, the centre manager at Bentley Copse said: “It has been another great success with the snow once again topping off the weekend for the children.

“All the children had gone home full of joy and even more sorry to say the parents having lots of muddy clothes to wash.”

• Farnham District Scouts offer opportunities for all thoser aged six to 25 years old of either sex.
