FUN was had by all the young people from Sandy Hill Estate who attended the first youth festival to be held at the Sandy Hill Community Bungalow on Saturday, October 14.
Out of a team effort of Bungalow staff and trustees, local youth project, Surrey Police, with a lead from the young people themselves, came a day of fun activities.
A local band provided music all day and gave the young people a chance to play the drums and cymbals; snakes and other reptiles provided entertainment and an opportunity to get up close; face painting was on offer, as was a magic show and the opportunity to learn a few tricks.
A competition round an obstacle course, finishing with a penalty shoot-out, ensured that all had an appetite for the delicious burgers and chocolate-coated fruit.
Tracy Scares, assistant service manager, Surrey Family Services (Waverley) said: “The children and young people who attended had a wonderful time, and as always showed what kind, caring and respectful youngsters we have the privilege of working with.”
The Mayor of Waverley, Simon Inchbald, and his wife, Rosie, along with Farnham deputy mayor David Attfield and his wife, Ann, were warmly welcomed and thanked for their interest.
Both mayors said they very much appreciated finding out a little more about the Bungalow and its activities. They also very much enjoyed meeting the young people and hoped that we would be able to put on similar events in the future.
