THE third Alma Pub Fun Day was hailed a “huge success” by organisers when almost £2,400 was raised for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice on August 25.

Visitors were kept entertained with two Ducati superbikes, live music, a tombola, a raffle, a bouncy castle and more.

Mark Goddard, who started the event in memory of his brother-in-law Brian Jones, said: “We’ll be doing it again next year. It was very, very good and a huge success.

“Huge thanks to all those who volunteered and donated.

“A huge thank you also goes to Matthew Williams [landlord] and Stevie-Ann Jones [landlady] for letting us use the pub, lots of hard work went into it.

“It was a fantastic day.”

Mark even shaved his head, facial hair and eyebrows, and waxed his chest, stomach and armpits to raise some extra cash.

Leanne Magee, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “It was wonderful to hear that a great time was had by all on the day, which included a barbecue, live music, bouncy castle and much, much more. We are extremely grateful for the continued support of The Alma pub.”

• Stevie-Ann will be doing a sponsored parachute jump on September 19 for Phyllis Tuckwell - see her JustGiving page at tinyurl.com/yc86e3gg to donate.
