THE days of the Liss Carnival may be over but its incarnation on a village park is proving to be just as popular.
Hundreds of villagers flocked to Newman Collard Recreation Ground last Saturday to enjoy the fun of Liss Village Day.
There was something for everyone at the afternoon event with highlights including a coconut shy, working steam engine, and live music.
There were also school games, dog shows and maypole dancing in the main ring while the football club and Scouts served up drinks and food.
The event was a boon for many charities and good causes with the Petersfield Lions and Rosemary Foundation both setting up stalls.
Supporters of the Crossover Centre also plugged their services while Liss Parish Council held a fundraising raffle for the West Liss Pavilion.
The honey man stall also created a buzz while many visitors and Christians flocked to the Liss Churches Working Together gazebo.
Needless to say, there was a carnival atmosphere throughout the afternoon while a long queue developed at the ice cream van.
Dozens of people also picked up a racket and went on court as the adjacent tennis club also held an open day to coincide with the event.
There's more of the same this Saturday off Station Road as St Mary's Church is holding a summer fete from noon to late afternoon.
Visitors can expect a barbecue and range of fantastic stalls in the rectory garden while the church itself will host an art exhibition.
Cream teas will be served from 2pm while further highlights include a raffle and live music from the Liss Community Choir, St Mary's Handbell Ringers, and Keren & Friends.
