A FUNDRAISING page has been set up to cover the funeral costs of Farnham teenager Nye Newman who died on the Paris Metro on New Year’s Day.

The page aims to raise £10,000 towards the 17 year old’s funeral, as well as supporting his family and providing therapy for his friends who witnessed the fatal accident.

The former All Hallows’ student was travelling with his co-founded free running and parkour group Brewman at the time of his death.

The fundraising page pays tribute to Nye, adding: “Nye was an amazing gymnast and parkour enthusiast, and this year had travelled all over the world with his friends and the parkour team he founded to take part in events in places as far flung as Hong Kong and Switzerland.

“Tragically, during this New Year’s Eve festivities, he was involved in a terrible accident on the Paris Metro.

“Nye was 17 years old, young and strong and had so much before him; there are some wonderful videos online on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram if you would like to see him and his amazing friends in action.

“Nye leaves a desperately grieving and shocked family and we would like to ensure that finances are one less thing they have to worry about for now.”

In a statement released on behalf of Nye’s family, they expressed how heartbroken they were by his death.

“Nye’s was an extraordinary young life which touched so many. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotion and wonderful tributes to Nye that have been made on social media and to us as a family.”

A ‘remembrance jam’ has also been organised by Brewman for his friends to “get together and train for the day” in Guildford town centre on March 4.

The End is Nye event will be centred around the free runner’s would-be 18th birthday on March 1.
